Blackburn Rovers’ Ewood Park widely regarded as one of the best away days in English football and 7,000 Manchester City supporters will be champing at the bit to see tomorrow’s FA Cup third round tie between the two sides.
One of the most memorable days in City’s recent history was played out at Ewood Park on 7th May 2000 as Joe Royle’s City won promotion back to the Premier League after beating Blackburn 4-1. City only needed a point to secure promotion and it looked as if it may not be City’s day when Blackburn took the lead and hit the post an incredible four times. Shaun Goater equalised before City ran riot and brushed aside the opposition to ensure a second successive promotion.
Needless to say but the City fans were jubilant roaring out chorus after chorus of Blue Moon and performing Conga dances all around the stadium. At the final whistle the traveling City supporters flooded the pitch to celebrate with the players and coaching staff. It was a great day to be a City supporter.
